with my puppy!
shes a 2 yr old rat terrier. & within the past 2 days shes been sick. not wantin to eat, & i havent noticed her goin to the bathroom (number 2) shes been throwin up also. shes got bad breath all of a sudden & she acts like her mouth is so dry. i try to get her to eat & she wont. the 2 local animal clinics around here are closed today! so i made an appointment for one thats like 45 minutes away but its at 4:00 which is forever away. im really worried bout her. shes up on all her shots & shes on heartworm prevention. & the last time i took her to the vet she had “allergies” so they gave her a shot. but this seems like something more serious this time.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!! I JUST NEED IDEAS OF WHATS WRONG, I HAVE CONTACTED THE VET BUT THEY CANT SEE HER TIL 4:00 PM. SO DONT SAY GO TO THE VET IMMEDIATELY.
THANKS!!!!

If she is not drinking any water, I would definitely get your butt moving ASAP to the vet’s. When they dont drink water, their organs can shut down, and then its too late. I know I had talked to people who had to put their cat down all because they waited to long. So please don’t wait
Sounds like she might of gotten a hold of something bad. Any poisons, pesticides around? Any food (chocolate) that she shouldn’t of had?
Anything missing? Like shoes, socks. She may of ate something that has her bound up inside. If vet doesn’t find anything medical see if they can x-ray her stomach.
My puppy once ate a tampon and it caused some trouble. It eventually came out the other end though.
Good Luck.
she sounds like her intestines may have a blockage take her to the vet asap or she could die…if thats not it it would still be good to take her in better to be safe then sorry!!!
You are right to be concerned. I would consider just going to the office where you have the appointment. Leave now, so what if you are early for the appointment. A dog in severe distress or an emergency will not be turned away. Your other choice is an emergency clinic.
Others have mentioned a blockage and this is serious. One other thing could be a kidney failure issue, which is also serious. Give her young age, it is possible she got into a poison and could have an acute renal failure. Since I experienced kidney failure in a dog, this is always my first thought given the symptoms. I’m sure for those with obstructions, they think this first.
The dry gums/mouth is a huge concern given the vomiting. Your dog is getting dehydrated and needs fluid supplements. The vet can do this with IV or sub-Q fluids. At this point, your dog is beyond your supportive care.
Symptoms of kidney failure: vomiting. lethargy, foul breath, dehydration.
Wishing your dog the best.
