It can be very uncomfortable to suddenly find yourself in a close conversation with someone and discover that they have horrible smelling breath. It can literally make you feel nauseous and sick to your stomach and it is almost impossible not to move back or to make a disgusted facial expression.
Really bad breath can easily cause these responses.
This is certainly a very difficult situation to find yourself in and you want to get away from the smell as soon as possible.
Even worse is when you suddenly become aware that the person you are talking to is showing these responses and it is you with the foul breath.
What Can You Do?
Unfortunately, when this response happens it is too late to do anymore than subtly move away from the other person. You can pretend to look around and back up at the same time.
At the first opportunity you can take a drink, eat a mint or chew a stick of gum. Excusing yourself to visit the restroom can be a good excuse.
However, the best solution is to prevent bad breath before it happens.
With Bad Breath — Prevention is the Best Medicine
So what can you do to prevent bad breath?
The best prevention is to take good care of their teeth with a good oral hygiene regiment. This is especially important for people who know that they have a problem with bad breath.
Brush your teeth frequently, especially in the morning, before bed and after meals. Floss at lease once a day and visit a dentist every six months.
Another thing you can do is to brush your tongue when you brush your teeth. Food particles get trapped on the tongue and are a frequent cause of bad breath. Be sure to brush as far back as you can without choking.
Other Solutions for Frequent Bad Breath
Certainly a good mouthwash can help. Be sure to rinse before bed to help prevent bacteria from growing overnight.
A stick of sugarless gum after a meal can help your mouth to cleanse itself of food particles by stimulating the saliva glands.
If your bad breath continues, you may need to seek professional help. A dentist may be able to spot a problem and offer a solution.
