Bad Breath Cures At Home

It is not uncommon for people to want to save money in these poor financial times that many are experiencing.  This is even true for those who have bad breath.  There are many home remedies that can be used to alleviate bad breath or to freshen up the breath when away from a tooth brush and toothpaste.  There are going to be times when these can not be had or when there is not money for expensive halitosis medications.  There really is no need for expensive cures when the home remedies are just as effective and much more cost effective.  There are foods and common items that can be purchased for just a few dollars that help to keep the mouth fresh and clean between brushing.

The least expensive of all the bad breath cures are foods and herbs that may already be in your cupboard and if not, can be found in any grocery store.  There are many types of food that are known to cause bad breath, but there are just as many that are going to get rid of it as well.  Some of the most common foods that help get rid of bad breath are:

•    Green Unsweetened Tea
•    Parsley
•    Apples
•    Pears
•    Mint Leaves
•    Sunflower Seeds
•    Water
•    Cardamom Seeds
•    Rosemary
•    Lemon

All of the above are going to help to cut down the bacteria in the mouth as well as hydrate it to promote the production of saliva.  Water is one of the best ways to cut down on halitosis.  When the mouth is dry, the bacteria are going to be more concentrated and are going to make the mouth smell worse.  By drinking water, this is going to moisten the mouth and promote the natural saliva that is going to wash away the bacteria and subsequently, the bad breath.

There are also many other items in the home can that can be used to gargle with in order to get rid of bad breath.  These are home made mouth washes that are much less expensive than the name brands on the market.  The ones that can be purchased at the store and that contain alcohol are only going to make the halitosis worse even if the mouth feels cleaner.  This is because alcohol dries out the mouth which as noted above, is going to create bad breath.  Using these home made mouthwashes is going to cost less and make the mouth much fresher.

•    Salt Water
•    Lemon Water
•    Diluted Hydrogen Peroxide
•    Baking Soda and Water

All of the above are disinfectants and can be used to gargle with after brushing the teeth or anytime that one’s breath is bad.  Simply swish any of the above solutions in the mouth for a few minutes and then rinse with plain water. It is important to dilute the hydrogen peroxide and not to swallow any of it.  While it is safe to gargle with, it is not safe to drink when full strength.  Small amounts diluted that are accidentally ingested are not going to cause any harm, but it should never be drank.
